Shrewsbury Resident, Bob Allen, Dies at 57

Shrewsbury resident Robert R. "Bob" Allen died at home on Aug. 8 at 57.

Born in Patchogue, NY to Robert J. and Regina (Fucci) Allen, Bob served the country in the U.S. Coast Guard from 1977 to 1984.

After 26 years of service, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Eatontown.

Bob was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He enjoyed working outdoors, the autumn season, daily walks with his two dogs and many a long walk through Red Bank.

Bob loved to joke around, and was blessed with a great sense of humor and sarcastic wit. He loved to watch Bill O'Reilly, enjoyed politics, and was extremely knowledgeable about world events. He was truly a great guy who will be missed immensely by his family and friends.

Bob was predeceased by: his in-laws, Nick and Emma Barbato; and his grandmother, Jennie Fucci.

He is survived by: the love of his life of 33 years, Nancy Barbato Allen; his adoring children, son Robert (Boobis) Allen Jr., of Shrewsbury, and his daughter, Alissa Minafo, and husband Tim, of Tinton Falls; his loving parents, Robert and Regina Allen of Patchogue, NY; his brother, Kevin, of NYC; and his sister Patti Tassoni, of CA; his two grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexandra Minafo; several loving nieces and nephews; his pets, Ava, Elliott and Mr. Muggs; and "family" Melissa and Al Kaplan, and John and Linda Jeal.

Thank you all for holding such a special place in his heart.

Visitation will be held on Monday, Aug. 12, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the John E. Day Funeral Home, 85 Riverside Avenue, Red Bank. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 10 a.m. at St. James Church, Red Bank.

Interment will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , PO Box 1000, Memphis, TN 8148-0142.
