Hi everyone in Red Bank-Shrewsbury land!
If you don't know me already, I’m Elaine Van Develde, your Red Bank-Shrewsbury Patch editor; and I want to welcome you to the new site. We’re pretty pleased with it and we think you’ll like it, too.
First of all, we're thinking that the site has a livelier look, more akin with the community spirit of the area. For instance, I don't have to tell you what's captured in the photo on the top banner — a scene from an evening on the banks of the Navesink River.Everyone knows that the river is the community spot that bonds. There's nothing generic about it.
But the photo isn’t the only thing that’s better about the new Patch. Now our news features are highlighted better, are easier to comment on and share.
And right below the news on the homepage you’ll see blogs, where more local voices can be showcased. We’ve also made it easier to start a blog yourself — any time, about anything.
And speaking of reader voices, you'll find that the most user-friendly interactive new feature you’ll see on this Red Bank-Shrewsbury Patch is its Boards section.

Let me explain. The Boards are an open forum on Patch in which you can post announcements about anything community-oriented for which you may need it — lost cats and dogs, school plays, wedding announcements, or even a strange thing you may have seen and want to share.
There’s an Opinion Board — because everyone has one, so why not put them all in one place so that you can interact more effectively with your friends and neighbors in the area?

The Buy/Sell/Trade Board is where you can post your garage sale and get rid of the stuff that’s taken over your basement.
And there’s a Business Updates Board — a dedicated spot in which business owners can post news about sales, specials, openings and closings.
So please, tell us what you think of the new Patch in the Opinion Board, or through the feedback form.
Enjoy! And I'll see you around town.
