I know, it's Monday, it's summer and it's the start of a work week, Red Bank-Shrewsbury area Patch friends. Well, welcome to a new news week.
Yes, it's summertime and the livin' is, well, hot. Then again, the area has always been a hot spot with a lot going on weather or not events are scheduled. OK, that was a little corny.
But, really, with organized activities and meetings at a minimum, we'll be on the lookout for some interesting moments to capture and write about. Some ideas have been brewing ... and before the morning coffee, too.
There's some catching up to do, too.
Last week there was a long debate over the fate of the bulkhead at the riverfront of the Red Bank Public Library; and a decision has been put on hold another 30 days at least. There are some leftover tidbits from that meeting on which all will be updated this week.
And, remember that pic we took from the meeting regarding a special 100th birthday (with 10 years in the borough)? We'll give you the answer to our question of who or what it is in a story today.
We'll also give you some good Red Bank Regional High School news.
We were terribly saddened by the death of former Patch columnist Carolann McLoughlin, so, in her honor, we put together a memorial story with a package of her columns for all to remember her by. Take a look and let us know if there's a column, in particular, that you remember and would like us to include. Carolann's services begin tonight, Monday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Thompson Memorial Home. RIP, Carolann.
Looking back on special places that are, like some memorable people, unique and inspiring in one way or another is something we'd like to do this week, too. This should be a fun one. Stay tuned.
Well, that's all the news that's happening this week so far. But, you never know. Let us know if we missed anything. We'll be working on it and see you around the towns!
