Couple Bilked Out Of $100K In Bergen County, 2 Arrests: Police
Two men were arrested after a 4-month investigation into a phone scam that bilked a Bergen County couple out of $100K, police said.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — Two New York men have been arrested for allegedly scamming a Bergen County couple out of $100,000, police said this week.
Tremayne D. McDaniel, 32, of Arvenre, N.Y., and James D. Daley, 39, of Staten Island, N.Y., have both been charged with third degree conspiracy to commit theft, the Glen Rock police said.
They said the arrests followed a four-month investigation into a banking wire fraud case in which a Glen Rock couple had more than $100,000 in un-approved transactions deducted from their bank accounts.

Police had reported back in January that a Glen Rock couple gave their information to someone on the phone, and lost $100,000 from three bank accounts. READ MORE: Phone Scammers Trick Glen Rock Couple Out Of $100K
The couple had said that at first, they got fraudulent text messages saying there had been unauthorized charges on their credit accounts.

Then, they got a call from someone pretending to be a bank representative, saying that there were fraudulent transactions made on their bank accounts. The caller asked the couple for their bank information in order to reverse the transactions. The couple gave the person their information, police said.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and they may have additional suspects in this scheme.
McDaniel and Daley are awaiting an appearance before Central Judicial Processing at the Superior Court in Hackensack, police said.
