377 RHS Students Recognized at Senior Ceremony

Hosting its annual awards, Ridgewood High School last week honored its senior class with scholarships and recognitions. Held at the high school's Campus Center June 10, community members awarded 377 graduating seniors honors in 139 different categories.

"This feels really great, I didn't expert to win this many," said Rachel Rosen, winner of seven awards. Planning on attending Ithaca College in the fall for performance, Rosen said the Al Renna Scholarship—awarded for theatrical excellence—meant the most to her because of her career path.

Community members from a variety of backgrounds attended the ceremony and awarded students accordingly. Ridgewood school board members, fire officials, gardening club members, Rotarians and scores of other groups partook in the giving.

Kevin Clough received eight awards—including one each from both the A.M. and P.M. Rotary Clubs.

"I really appreciate it. Right now, my family is in a little financial trouble, and I think the scholarships will go a long way," he said. He plans on attending the Ringling College of Art and Design in Sarasota, FL in the fall.

Awards for scholastic, artistic, athletic, civic and many other achievements were given Thursday. Following the ceremony, students hobnobbed with their benefactors at a reception in the gym.
