70th Annual 'Dad's Night' to Benefit Village Schools

Performances are this weekend.

Dad’s Night is set to once again take the stage in Ridgewood to help support village elementary schools.

This year’s Dad’s Night performances – happening Friday at 7 p.m. and Saturday at 3 p.m. – mark the 70th year of a longstanding fundraising tradition.

“Each year the dads write their own scripts and songs, play their own music, design and sew their own costumes, build their own sets, and put on a musical review for the hundreds of kids in town,” one of the event’s organizers, Sean McCooe said.

“Everyone has a good time, and many long lasting friendships are made. Most importantly, our children learn that their dads are committed to them and their lives. Why else would the dads make such fools of themselves if it weren't for the love of their children?”

The funds raised at the event help support purchases at the Somerville and Hawes Schools like computers, cameras, smart board, scholarships, and more.
