9/11 Memorial Ceremonies Scheduled In Bergen County On Thursday

Approximately 750 people killed in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks were from New Jersey. Local ceremonies will be held this Thursday.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — Approximately 750 New Jersey residents died in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. A total of 147 of those were from Bergen County.

Several area towns will hold memorial ceremonies on Thursday, as will the county of Bergen.

The Bergen County ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Monument at Overpeck County Park-Henry Hoebel area at 4 p.m. The park is on Fort Lee Road in Leonia. More information is here.

Among the other observances:

  • Glen Rock, which lost 11 residents, will hold a ceremony at Veteran's Park at 6:30 p.m.
  • Saddle Brook will hold a ceremony at the Municipal Complex, Mayhill Street. More information is here.

And retired Fairview Police Chief Frank Del Vecchio will participate in the 9/11 Remembrance Run from Ridgewood's Duck Pond to the World Trade Center.
