American Dream's Indoor Ski Park Opening Set For Dec. 5

Olympic Gold medalists and professional snowboarders will be on hand to help celebrate the grand opening.

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Olympic Gold medalists and professional snowboarders will be on hand to help celebrate the grand opening of American Dream's indoor ski and snow park next week.

Big SNOW is scheduled to open at 3 p.m. on Dec. 5 to the public, following appearances by Olympic Gold medalists Lindsey Vonn and Red Gerard, along with Burton Snowboards team rider Ben Ferguson.

Big SNOW, which is being billed as North America's largest indoor ski and snow park,will offer skiing, snowboarding, lessons, private coaching, children's programming and private events.

Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased bigsnowamericandream.com. Hours of operation will be 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., daily.

  • Equipment rentals, helmets, outerwear, tickets and a complimentary introductory lesson are available for $49.99 plus tax per person.
  • For those who already own gear, tickets for those ages 7 and up are $34.99 for two hours or $49.99 for four hours.

“We’re very excited to start sharing Big SNOW with our guests next week. There seems to be a lot of interest in what we’re doing, with guests reaching out daily asking about how and when they can buy tickets” said Hugh Reynolds, vice president of marketing and sales for Big SNOW.

Big SNOW is also continuing to hire workers for the park and is still looking to fill over 100 positions. According to the park, full and part-time positions are available in several areas, including retail, rental staff and lift operators.

A hiring event is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Hilton Meadowlands, 2 Meadowlands Plaza, East Rutherford.

In October, workers started grooming 5,500 tons of snow needed to fill the 180,000-square-foot, 16-story, climate-controlled venue. The park's owners, SNOW Operating, also run Mountain Creek Resort in Vernon.

American Dream, the massive $5 billion Meadowlands shopping and entertainment venue opened Oct. 25 unveiling Nickelodeon Universe Theme Park and an NHL-size ice rink. Other attractions, shopping and dining will follow over the next several months.

DreamWorks Water Park, an indoor water park that will include the world's largest indoor water coaster, a free fall slide with a 70-foot drop, a lazy river and a 1.5-acre wave pool was supposed to open Nov. 27, but the mall recently announced it would be delayed until further notice.
