RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Small business owners, like Gustavo Rosales, the owner of Bagelicious in Ridgewood, "are what make North Jersey such an incredible place to live, work and do business," U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) said after a Thursday morning visit to the bagel shop.

Rosales acquired Bagelicious, TAPinto Ridgewood reported, after a five-alarm fire burnt down the business on the village's east side in spring 2020; he was an employee at the shop for 10 years prior.

He has "overcome every obstacle in (his) way," Gottheimer said.

For that reason, Gottheimer presented a certificate of recognition to Rosales, while meeting with staff, welcoming customers, and helping him make bagels.

"Thanks for teaching me the secrets of what makes Jersey bagels the best," Gottheimer said in a Facebook post. He was joined at the shop by Bergen County Commissioner Ramon Hache.
