Bergen County Assembly Slates File To Run In June Primary Races
Who's facing off in the Democratic and Republican primaries to serve Bergen County in the Assembly?
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — While national politics may be commanding much of the news cycle, several local races are heated, including a contest to see who will get the Democratic and Republican nominations to represent Bergen County in the state Assembly.
The primary races to choose the two nominees will take place in June.
A number of candidates have filed to run for two 37th District Assembly seats representing 13 Bergen County towns including Teaneck and Englewood.

Incumbent Democratic Assemblywomen Ellen Park and Shama Haider are facing challenges from several other hopefuls.
Tenafly Councilman Dan Park and lawyer Tamar Warburg are running with support of gubernatorial candidate Steve Fulop, reports say, and former Teaneck Mayor Yitz Stern and businesswoman Rosemary Hernandez Carroll will also vie for the nomination.

Other Districts
Districts 32 through 40 also include parts of the county. Ridgewood and Wyckoff fall into the 40th District, which also includes parts of Essex and Passaic counties.
Several districts have candidates supported by Fulop who are running to unseat incumbents.
New Jersey Monitor reported that 209 Assembly candidates filed by the Monday deadline to run in Democratic and Republican primaries this year, up from 170 two years ago. An expert suggested that the governor's race was a factor.
What's Next
The two candidates with the most votes in June will progress to the November general election and face off against Republicans and third party candidates.
