Bergen County Teen Viewed 1,700 Chlid Sex Abuse Materials: Prosecutors

A Bergen County teen possessed or viewed at least 1,700 images of child sex abuse, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A 17-year-old Bergen County juvenile was charged Friday with possession of child sexual abuse materials after an investigation, prosecutors said.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said that on Aug. 12, their Cyber Crimes Unit identified a 17-year-old juvenile during an ongoing internet child pornography investigation.

As part of the investigation, detectives conducted a court-authorized search of the teen's electronic device.

The search determined that the teen viewed, saved, downloaded, and/or possessed 1,751 items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children, prosecutors said Friday.

The teen was taken into protective custody in Paramus on Friday, prosecutors said.

The teen was charged with second-degree possession of child pornography before being released to await further action by Bergen County Superior Court Family Law Division, prosecutors said.
