Board Suggests Carpooling for Tonight's Valley Meeting

West Side Presbyterian lot unavailable for meeting at George Washington Middle School.

Parking at tonight's Planning Board meeting on the potential Valley Hospital expansion could prove problematic.

Residents should arrange car pools or drop-offs in order to attend the meeting at George Washington Middle School, board secretary Barbara Carlton said Monday morning.

For most large-scale middle school events, parking is available across the street in the West Side Presbyterian Church's lot. However, Carlton said previously scheduled church activities will prevent residents from parking there for the meeting. An attendant will be on-site to direct traffic elsewhere, she said.

Originally scheduled at the Benjamin Franklin Middle School auditorium, Carlton announced the change Friday as Project Graduation activities for the high school are occupying the facility.

Looking to get the word out, Carlton asked people to make appropriate arrangements as the middle school has little on-site parking.

At the meeting, the board could potentially vote to allow the hospital expand its facility more than 200 percent. A large crowd is expected at the meeting, which starts ay 7:30 p.m.
