Borough Council Approves $1.9M Capital Plan
Projects include street pavings, Maple Avenue train trestle repair, purchase of vehicles, ADA compliant bathrooms at Children's Park, among others.
Residents of Glen Rock will see newly-paved streets, a renovated Wilde Park, and an improved train trestle, among other benefits, according to the $1.94 million capital budget approved by the council last week.
Approved on second reading on April 10, the budget appropriates $430,000 to improve the retaining walls at the Maple Avenue train trestle, which is prone to flooding. The project includes $360,000 in state DOT grants.
Various streets throughout the borough are also scheduled to be improved in 2013, costing $455,000 (we'll have a list of streets in the near future, so check back).

Among the other big-ticket items is the third phase of the Hamilton/Belmont drainage project, a $185,000 expense.
Various sewer pump repairs throughout town will cost $150,000 and general upgrades to DPW vehicles/equipment will run about $275,000.

The second phase of the Wilde Park renovation, an aging park that's fallen into disrepair in recent years, is set for 2013. Officials have appropriated $70,000 to upgrade equipment, utilizing $26,000 in county open space grants.
Scheduled upgrades to the restrooms at Children's Park for ADA compliance worth $92,000 are included in the budget, as are walkway improvements to the public library ($69,000).
The council has also set aside $100,000 toward the future purchase of a new fire truck.
Police security and electronic upgrades will cost $12,000.
The 2013 municipal budget, which will increase taxes $174 for the average resident, is scheduled for final vote and approval on April 24.
