'Cake Boss' Bakery Opening Pushed Back, Report Says

Originally poised to open around the holidays, Carlo's Bakery won't open until mid-January, according to a report on the Second Helpings blog by Record food writer Elisa Ung.

Hoboken-based television star Buddy Valastro will be opening the second Carlo's Bakery at 12 Wilsey Square, the building known as the "Playhouse Theater." 

"We expect to do very well in Ridgewood," Valastro told Patch in September. "We have some really cool offerings at this new location, like a custom cake bar and a party room for kids to have birthday parties. We're excited about the opportunities."

A fourth-generation baker, Valastro is the head honcho of TLC's "Cake Boss". The show chronicles Valstro and the staff making intricate, custom cakes for customers. Filming for the upcoming season is expected to resume in 2013. 

Valastro, family members and Marissa Lopez, the winner of last season's Next Great Baker, will be at the Ridgewood location on occasion.
