Fort Lee Man Struck Crossing E. Ridgewood Avenue

A 41-year-old Fort Lee man was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center Friday night after being hit by a car while crossing northbound on E. Ridgewood Avenue.

A 41-year-old Fort Lee man was injured Friday night after being struck by a car while crossing E. Ridgewood Avenue, police said.

The pedestrian was crossing south to north at the N. Irving Street intersection around 8 p.m. when he was hit by a southbound Buick LaCrosse making a left onto E. Ridgewood Avenue from N. Irving Street, Lt. William Amoruso said.

The Fort Lee man suffered non life-threatening injuries to his head, arm and ankle, and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, Amoruso said.

The driver, a 67-year-old Ridgewood man whose name was not released, told police he did not see the pedestrian, Amoruso said. He was issued summonses for failure to give a proper signal, failure to keep right at an intersection, failure to stop for a pedestrian and careless driving.

As of Saturday afternoon, the victim had been released from the hospital, Amoruso said.
