Celebrating 100 Years, Ridgewood High School Band Prepares For Fall Season
Band students took part in band camp last week to learn the new show, which is inspired by the program's 100th anniversary.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Celebrating its 100th anniversary, the Ridgewood High School Band Program has many exciting events planned throughout the school year, including public performances of a new show students are preparing for, Associate Director of Bands John Luckenbill said.
Just last week at band camp, the band worked to learn the basics of playing and marching, spinning equipment, memorizing music, and learning drill maneuvers to this year's show.
"Band camp was a huge success," Luckenbill said. "The students have dug in to learning the show and it should be a really great year for us, both competitively and just performing the show for audiences."

This year's marching band show, "The Maroon and Gold Parade," helps celebrate the 100 years of the band, Luckenbill said. The show has a lot of variety, he added, which presents some unique challenges in the learning process.
"From dots on a page, notes on a staff, and computer generated recordings, to performing at MetLife Stadium and at National Championships, I always look forward to seeing the show come to life and watching the students grow throughout the season," Luckenbill said.
