Chuck Johnson Back In Top Job For Ridgewood Football

Health concerns forced Johnson to the sidelines after the 2019 season, but the legendary NJ coach is back for 2021.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Health concerns forced a local coaching legend to the sidelines after the 2019 season, but Ridgewood High School will welcome Chuck Johnson back for 2021.

Northjersey.com first reported that Johnson will return as head coach for the Maroons this year, and he brings with him a storied resume after undergoing multiple surgeries for a "serious infection," the publication said.

Those in the Ridgewood football community are excited to have a familiar face with a track record of success back with a headset.

In his storied career, Johnson led the Maroons to seven New Jersey state titles, including back-to-back championships in 2018-2019, and 2003-2004. The 2016 state championship team went undefeated.

According to Northjersey, Johnson's 282 wins are the third most of anyone in New Jersey football history.
