Man Accused Of Liquor Theft, Attempted Vehicle Break-Ins In Bergen Co.: Police
A man was charged in connection with stolen bottles of booze and attempted vehicle break-ins in Glen Rock, police said.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A man stands accused of stealing two bottles of alcohol, and then trying to break into vehicles parked in a public lot, Glen Rock police Chief Dean Ackermann said.
Matthew Emerson, 35, of Fair Lawn, was charged with shoplifting and criminal mischief in connection with the incident, which occurred Friday afternoon in the area of the Prospect Street stores, Ackermann said.
Officers responded to a report of Emerson trying to burglarize the vehicles in a parking lot, and discovered that he had just stolen a bottle of Remy Martin and a bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label from Bottle King across the street, police said.

Emerson was arrested, and released on his own recognizance pending a court appearance. He told police, while he was being processed, that he was struggling with addiction. Police provided him information on available treatment programs, Ackermann said.
