Man Extorted Sexual Photos From Child He Met On Snapchat: Bergen County Prosecutor

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Texas man met a child and adult via Snapchat and got them both to send him photos of sexual acts, prosecutors said.

Quristafer D. Land, of Dallas, Texas, has been charged with production of child sexual abuse material, aggravated sexual extortion, sexual extortion, and impersonation, said Bergen County prosecutors.

Prosecutors say that in April, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received information from the Lyndhurst Police Department regarding possible acts of online sexual extortion.

Detectives determined that a stranger contacted an adult and a child via the social media app Snapchat.

Then, over a period of months, say investigators, "The online stranger instructed the victims to record and send photos and videos of themselves engaged in sexual acts."

Detectives traced the social media activity to a home in Dallas, Texas, they said.

Last Thursday, with the assistance of the Dallas Police Department and U.S. marshals, detectives from the prosecutor's Cyber Crimes Unit traveled to Dallas and executed a search warrant at the home.

They determined that Land was the person in control of the social media account, and that he extorted the victims and obtained the photos and videos.

They said he also used someone else's likeness to create various online accounts.

Land was charged with first-degree production of child pornography, second-degree aggravated sexual extortion, third-degree sexual extortion, and third-degree impersonation, prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Dallas County Jail and is awaiting extradition to New Jersey, prosecutors said.
