DEA Drug Take-Back in Ridgewood, Glen Rock This Weekend
Drop off your unused prescription drugs at the police station.
Residents can drop off unused prescription drugs this weekend as both the Ridgewood and Glen Rock Police Departments have announced they will take part in a national initiative to get unused drugs out of homes before they end up in the wrong hands.
The DEA National Take-Back Initiative is happening this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the police stations. Residents will be able to drop off any unwanted, unused, or expired medications, no questions asked. According to a release from police, the meds will be safely and properly disposed of.
“Often, some of these medicines languish in the home and are highly susceptible to diversion, misuse, and abuse,” cops said in the release.

“Rates of prescription drug abuse in the U.S. are alarmingly high—more Americans currently abuse prescription drugs than the number of those using cocaine, hallucinogens, heroin, and inhalants combined, according to the 2010 National Survey on Drug Use and Health.”
Past take-backs have been very successfully locally and on a national level. The initiative generally collects millions of pills at police stations across the country.
