Edgar Allan Poe 'Speakeasy' Comes To Ridgewood Next Weekend

Boo! It's a trend touring the country, with chilled cocktails paired with chilling short story readings, and it's coming to Ridgewood.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — If you like to mix chilling stories with chilled drinks, you might check out the traveling speakeasy that lands in Ridgewood next weekend.

The Edgar Allan Poe Speakeasy describes itself as a "21+ only, chilling cocktail experience dedicated to the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. The event takes place inside a dark speakeasy. Four of his most famous stories will be retold and reimagined by our Poe historians."

Each story will be accompanied by a cocktail, created by the "macabre mixologist."

The four cocktails are: Pale Blue Eyes, Red Death, Edgar's Twisted Brandy Milk Punch, and The Nevermore.

The milk punch is described this way: "Equal parts Kentucky Bourbon meets with French Brandy and is mixed with vanilla cream, milk syrup, and half and half. Topped with star anise."

What about the Nevermore? It's "A black and gold cocktail fueled by orange peach blossom vodka, lime juice, and secret spice."

Next weekend, the tour stops in Columbia, Missouri, Allentown, Pa., besides Ridgewood.

The event will take place at 215 W Ridgewood Ave.

The remaning $45 tickets can be purchased here, if you dare. But make arrangements, if you're drinking, to get home without driving — otherwise, you might spend eternity listening to the beating of the telltale heart.
