EMT Destroyed Health Records, Bergen County Prosecutor Says
An EMT working for a Bergen County town has been arrested for destroying patient records over 3 months, prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Yonkers man who works as an emergency medical technician in Cliffside Park was arrested this week for destroying medical records, prosecutors said.
Darren E. Jacobs was charged with fourth-degree purposeful destruction, alteration or falsification of a record relating to care of a medical patient, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that on Nov. 22 of last year, they "received information regarding the alleged destruction of reports/charts associated with medical calls for service in Cliffside Park."

An investigation determined that Jacobs destroyed several records and charts between September and November of 2024, prosecutors said.
Jacobs was arrested in Paramus on Thursday, prosecutors said.

He was released to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
