Family Doctor Charged With Sex Assault: Bergen County Prosecutor
A family doctor in Bergen County has been charged with sexual assault, said county prosecutors.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A family doctor in Bergen County has been charged with sexual assault, said prosecutors on Monday.
Richard B. Tancer, 68, of Montville, was charged for an assault that allegedly occurred Friday at Family Medical Group in Little Ferry, said Bergen County prosecutors.
Prosecutors said that this past Friday, the Little Ferry Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit about an alleged sexual assault that had occurred earlier that day.

An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Little Ferry Police Department determined that Tancer had sexually assaulted an adult woman while performing an examination, prosecutors said.
He was arrested in Montville and charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual contact, prosecutors said.

He was taken to the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
