Fundraiser Created For Ridgewood Boy Severely Burned On Vacation
Danny Kovac was electrocuted by a live wire and suffered 'severe' burns while visiting his grandparents in Europe, his godmother said.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A Ridgewood High School student was severely burned by a live electrical wire while vacationing in Europe and a fundraiser has been created to help with medical expenses.
Fifteen-year-old Danny Kovac was visiting his grandparents in Konjic in Bosnia and Herzegovina when he was shocked by a live electrical wire Sunday, Kovac's godfather Haris Sose said on the GoFundMe page set up for him.
Kovac was en route to the United States on a plane with his mom, Sose said in an update on the page said. He was due to arrive at Teterboro Airport at about 6 p.m. The update was posted Wednesday afternoon, two days after the GoFundMe page went live.

Kovac was set to be immediately taken and admitted to the Cornell Weill Burn Center in New York City, Sose said in the update.
"Please continue to keep Danny and his family in your thoughts," Sose said.

More than $65,000 had been donated to the GoFundMe campaign as of late Wednesday night. The campaign had been trending and was shared more than 1,100 times on social media.
Donations would help pay for the cost of Kovac's evacuation.
Kovac "loves to play basketball, ski, swim in his pool, and hang out with his many friends," Sose said. "[He]has the biggest heart and is kind to all those around him."
Friends expressed their sympathies to Kovac and his family on the GoFundMe page.
"We are thinking of you all at this very critical time," The Bonaccorsi family said. "We send you much love and encouragement."
