"We felt that it was important that our school have a Jewish troop since most troops that meet at public schools conduct activities that are forbidden on the Jewish Sabbath," explained co-leader Barbra Lieberstein, who founded the troop with Natalie Terdiman, its other co-leader.
The brief, 40-minute service will include the history of the founding of the Girl Scouts, honor all Girl Scout troops in the area and include other readings pertaining to annual service. The girls will also recite The Girl Scout Law. The service will be followed by refreshments, including Girl Scout cookies. All troops on any denomination are invited and the event is free.
