5:57 PM – A 15-year-old Glen Rock girl was struck by a motor vehicle while crossing the street on Belvidere Road at Harristown Road. The girl was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Paterson with non-life threatening, but serious injuries. Initially neither she nor the driver could recount exactly what occurred. Neither saw each other prior to the impact. However, officers were able to obtain video footage from a nearby home which captured the entire incident. The girl was clearly in the crosswalk, well into crossing the street with no vehicles in the area at the time she began crossing the street. The driver, a 43-year-old Glen Rock woman, cut a sharp left turn from Harristown onto Belvidere and abruptly entered into the crosswalk striking the girl as she crossed. Based upon the video, as well as physical evidence on the scene, P.O. Matt Stanislao issued the driver summonses for careless driving and failure to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.
