Glen Rock Blotter: Wilde Park Bathroom Vandalized

Also, headphones and children's novelty money was stolen from one person's car.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — In the week of April 20 to April 26, police in Glen Rock responded to 335 calls for service. The highlights of those calls are below:


April 20, 11:11 a.m.

Department of Public Works workers called Glen Rock police on April 20 to report vandalism. According to the police blotter, DPW workers were opening bathrooms for the season at Wilde Park when they found the bathrooms had been broken into and vandalized during the winter.

The bathrooms were cleaned, winterized and locked before the outbreak of the new coronavirus. Police said they believe the damage could have been inflicted before the pandemic, but authorities have seen a recent increase in property damage.

On April 20, someone from the Sikh Temple on Prospect Street called Glen Rock police to report two people in a black SUV were loitering in the temple's parking lot and taking photographs of the building. The caller said the SUV had already left the area when the call was made to police.

Police said no signs of damage were apparent. The temple is working with its technician to find video footage for the detective bureau to investigate.


April 22, 5:30 a.m.

A resident of Ferndale Avenue called police to report he or she was awakened when a car alarm went off in the home's driveway. When the caller looked outside, a car was seen driving away from the area of the Ferndale Avenue home.

Both cars were locked, and nothing had been taken, police said. A description of the car seen leaving the area was not available, and no evidence was found in the area.

April 22, 3:25 p.m.

A caller on Romary Court called police to report someone had entered his unlocked car in his driveway overnight. Two sets of headphones and children's toy money was stolen from the car. The resident shared home surveillance footage with the police detective bureau.

Police say the theft probably happened around 12:30 a.m.

Police remind residents to keep their cars locked, even when parked in a nearby driveway.
