Glen Rock Kiddie Pool Closed Sunday After Accident: Mayor
Bruce Packer said the water has to be treated for at least 13 hours.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — The kiddie pool at the municipal pool was closed Saturday and could be closed all of Sunday after a swimmer had a "loose accident" involving fecal matter in the pool, Mayor Bruce Packer said.
The water needs to be treated for a minimum of nearly 13 hours, Packer said. The pool must also be deep cleaned and scrubbed.
Fecal matter has the potential to carry Crypto, a germ that can cause diarrhea. It can survive in public pools for days, even in properly chlorinated ones, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states on its website.

"We test the water every two hours daily to make sure our water levels are safe and may be able to open at some point during the day on Sunday, but cannot guarantee it," Packer said. "Staying closed on Sunday and cleaning is an inconvenience to the public, but it is for your safety in preventing the contraction of recreational water illnesses. We thank you for your understanding."
