Glen Rock Man Victim Of Vehicle Phone Scam: Police
The man got calls from people claiming that his vehicle was abandoned near the U.S.-Mexico border and had 22 lbs. of cocaine in it: Police.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A resident was targeted with a scam that his vehicle had been found at the United States-Mexico border with 22 pounds of cocaine inside, police said.
Police received calls from the man Thursday afternoon. He told them he got calls from two people claiming to be "social security agents," said Chief Dean Ackermann.
The callers claimed that an abandoned vehicle had been found at the Texas-Mexico border with 22 pounds of cocaine, bank information, and documents that led them to believe the vehicle was his, Ackermann said.

The callers said there was a warrant out for the resident's arrest and that they needed to confirm his personal information, which he gave them, the chief said.
Detectives are reviewing the matter.
