Glen Rock Named 2nd Best NJ Town For Families: Report

Only Montgomery Township in Somerset County was ranked higher than Glen Rock.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Glen Rock was named the second best town for families in New Jersey, according to a new ranking published by New Jersey Family magazine.

Glen Rock was named the second best town for families in New Jersey. Ho-Ho-Kus was the second highest Bergen County town ranked at No. 12.

"Not many towns still have the tight-knit vibe where everyone knows your name, but Glen Rock undeniably does, Kathleen Walter told the magazine. "It can be seen at the municipal pool over the summer, where toddlers splash away with water toys while older kids hit the playground."

The famous 520-ton boulder in the middle of town, where the borough got its name, is rumored to have been brought to Glen Rock from Peekskill, New York about 15,000 years ago, according to the magazine.

The magazine looked at towns with more than 1,500 residents, and took into account several key factors, including average home sale price, crime rates, school performance, commute time, and diversity. They then took that data to find the different rankings, including the best overall, best for commuters, and best large, mid-sized, and small towns.
