Ackermann said that a police officer on patrol around 2:30 a.m. tried to confront two men he saw wearing dark clothing and hoodies. They were "prowling around residential properties on Cornwall Road and Gibson Place," said police.

After officer Nicholas Onove spotted the men, they jumped a fence into a rear yard of a property and fled on foot, Ackermann said.

Sgt. Greg Carter, Officer James Donnelly, and police from Fair Lawn and Ridgewood joined the pursuit, Ackermann said.

When captured, they were found to be in possession of an iPhone, stolen from a vehicle belonging to a resident from Kershner Place in Fair Lawn, along with credit cards, smart phones, and other personal property whose owners have not yet been identified, Ackermann said.

Rosario also had a replica handgun, Ackermann said.

Both men were charged with defiant trespassing in addition to the other charges.

Rosario was taken to the Bergen County Jail, Ackermann said. Guedez was processed and released in accordance with bail reform laws. Both await an appearance before Central Judicial Processing in Hackensadk.

Ackermann said that anyone who may have had a vehicle parked in the area and is missing items should contact the Glen Rock Police Department at (201) 652-3800.
