GLEN ROCK, NJ – Tyler Blazejewski, one of Glen Rock’s newest probationary firefighters, was cleaning at the firehouse when a picture caught his eye.

The 15-year-old photo, which appeared in the Glen Rock Gazette newspaper, features a 3-year-old Blazejewski wearing a firefighter’s helmet while at a wetdown celebration.

Now, the Glen Rock High School graduate is no longer pretending to be firefighter.

Now enrolled in fire school at the Bergen County Fire Academy, Blazejewski will soon become a regular member of the volunteer department, according to Glen Rock Fire Chief Mike Aguilar.

“He was influenced by his uncle and a desire to serve the community,” the chief said. “His history teacher in Glen Rock, Mrs. Walter, has a husband who is a member here and she encouraged him, as well.”
