'A' Grade Assigned To Ridgewood's Valley Hospital: Report
Leapfrog, a nonprofit watchdog organization, evaluates nearly 3,000 general hospitals in the U.S. on how well they keep patients safe.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Ridgewood's The Valley Hospital was recognized with an "A" grade for patient safety for the 19th time overall and third time consecutively, with the release of the fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade.
Leapfrog, a national nonprofit watchdog organization, assigns letter grades to hospitals across the U.S. on more than 30 performance measures that are based on how well the hospitals protect patients from preventable medical errors and harm.
“This top grade is a result of Valley’s longstanding commitment to ensuring patient safety and providing high-quality care," Audrey Meyers, President and CEO of Valley Health System, said.

Valley was one of 33 hospitals across the state, and part of 29% of hospitals graded nationwide, to receive an "A". Leapfrog's method is predicated on peer review in the Journal of Patient Safety, the hospital said.
“I applaud Valley’s leadership and workforce for their strong commitment to safety and transparency,” Leapfrog President and CEO Leah Binder said. “An ‘A’ Safety Grade is a sign that hospitals are continuously evaluating their performance so that they can best protect patients. Your team should be extremely proud of their dedication and achievement.”
