Graydon Meeting, Valley Testimony, Arrival of 'Zen Master' This Week

Check out what's happening in Ridgewood and Glen Rock this week.

It's setting up to be a busy week in Ridgewood and Glen Rock.

On Monday, school boards will be hashing out details on lunch offerings, curriculum plans. Plus, the Graydon handicap ramp issue has returned. DEP officials will be hearing the public's take on the plan.

Then, on Tuesday, the continuation of testimony on the Valley Hospital expansion goes down. We'll be bringing you the latest on the Ridgewood council meeting on Wednesday.

Monday

*Glen Rock trustees are expected to have a fairly eventful Monday meeting. The board will be voting on a resolution to add more items to the elementary school lunch menu. (As it turns out, the current offerings aren't exactly gourmet.) Check back on what went down in the upcoming days.

GRPS Director of Curriculum Kathleen Regan also will be issuing her report on the five year program update. The district will also feature a presentation on the critical incident response team. 

*School board counterparts in Ridgewood will discuss the status of electronic textbooks and library books, as well as a presentation on the five-year plan for language arts in the district.

*A special public forum on the controversial Graydon Pool ramp has been set up for the public to meet with DEP officials. The meeting is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Village Hall's Council Chamber.

Tuesday

The Ridgewood Planning Board will be discussing the Valley Hospital expansion request at 7:30 p.m. at B.F. Middle School. Last go around, Valley experts testified that traffic would be improved with an expansion. Experts hired by the village will ask witnesses questions on their testimony.

Wednesday

*"Zen Master" Phil Jackson will be in town at Bookends to promote his new book Eleven Rings at 6:30 p.m.

*The Ridgewood Village Council will be meeting at 7:30 p.m. Make sure to check back with Patch for a full recap of what happened. 

*Glen Rock's borough council will meet at 7:30 p.m. for a work session. 

Thursday

*Ridgewood Public Schools will be holding its first-ever veterans remembrance ceremony at B.F. Middle School. Proceeds will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m.

*Patch will have some news on the upcoming Ridgewood Run on Memorial Day and an article on the ongoing battle with pedestrian safety issues.
