NORTH JERSEY — After hiding from the cold for these last weeks, do you want to get out and try something new?
Several new restaurants opened in North Jersey in the last six weeks. Here are a few you can try.
Ugly Dumpling, Linden
Ugly Dumpling recently opened its first location in Union County, combining the centuries-old cooking techniques of Shanghai with modern Asian favorites. The franchise expects to open five more locations in New Jersey by summer. The Linden location opened its doors at 661 W. Edgar Road three weeks ago. Read more here.

Sweet T's Southern Eatery
Sweet T’s Southern Eatery in Teaneck opened its doors on Feb. 1. The eatery was the latest venture by Dre Perrin, owner of BeSpoke Men’s Grooming—Teaneck’s oldest Black-owned business—and Tonza Houston. Sweet T’s Southern Eatery redefines soul food by offering health-conscious, pork-free Southern cuisine. Their flagship location is in Montclair. Find out more here.

Black Horse Tavern
The Black Horse Tavern & Pub in Mendham has been serving customers since 1742. It closed in March 2024 for renovations. A fire damaged parts of the building in early September, but it celebrated its reopening in January. The eatery serves up traditional dishes such as chicken, pasta, sandwiches, pot pie, St. Louis Ribs, and salads. Nómada
Nómada in Verona is serving up fresh, authentic Mexican cuisine. It opened its doors at 700 Bloomfield Ave. a little over three weeks ago. It offers a “rustic, beach-inspired ambiance” with a menu inspired by Mexico's rich culinary heritage. Find out more here.
Bbagels
Bbagels in downtown Jersey City announced their soft opening on National Bagel Day, Jan. 15. "They're baking fresh, squeezing oranges, brewing good coffee and serving with a warm smile," said the Special Improvement District. The eatery is located at 367 Grove St. Find out more here.
Two Beloved Bars Announce Closing
Meanwhile, two beloved Jersey City bar/restaurants announced the same day that they would close. Fox and Crow has closed, and Barcade will close in June. Read more here.
