Jersey City Teen Dies In City's Sixth Homicide Of Year
A Jersey City teen who was shot in the Greenville section on Friday has died, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A 19-year-old Jersey City man, shot on Friday in the Greenville section of the city, has died.
Kashyne Grant was shot near Garfield Avenue and Brown Place shortly before 5 p.m., said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
He was taken to Jersey City Medical Center with an apparent gunshot wound to the upper body.

He was pronounced dead just after 10 a.m. on Monday, prosecutors said.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide Unit and the Jersey City Police Department are investigating, and no arrests have been made, they said.

Local media reported that this was the first fatal shooting in Jersey City since May.
The city of Jersey City said that there were five homicides this year so far before the newest death. There were 27 shooting incidents, with a total of 35 people shot, they said.
In 2023, there were 43 shooting incidents total, 59 victims and nine homicides. The year before, there were 11 homicides.
