Ridgewood Man Charged With Domestic Violence, Resisting Arrest: Police
A Ridgewood man fled from police and resisted arrest following his alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident, police said.
RIDGEWOOD, NJ — A knife-wielding man involved in an aggravated domestic violence incident fled from police and resisted arrest, according to authorities.
Keith Hanlon, 41, of Ridgewood, was armed with a butcher knife in the domestic violence incident Sunday, and was "extremely irate" with officers who interacted with him, at one struggling while being put in handcuffs, Paramus police chief Kenneth Ehrenberg said.
Hanlon fled the scene of the domestic violence incident shortly after 8:15 p.m. in Ridgewood, where he apparently said on one occasion that he wished to be killed by police. Several minutes later, he was spotted by Paramus officers pulling into an office building lot on Route 4 East, Ehrenberg said.

Officers tried to speak with Hanlon, at which point he became irate, slammed the car door shut and drove to a different area of the Atrium's parking lot. Police then deployed spike strips under the tires of Hanlon's vehicle, and tried to negotiate with him for 20 minutes, the chief said.
Hanlon refused to communicate and turned his car radio to full volume, and was eventually, after a struggle with officers, arrested and taken to an area hospital for evaluation. He was charged with resisting arrest and domestic violence, police said.
