Longtime Mahwah Coach, School Official Dies At 81
He served on the Mahwah Board of Education for many years, coached students, and more.
MAHWAH, NJ — Peter J. Wendrychowicz, who lived in Mahwah, coached Mahwah students, and worked for the Ramapo Central School District for 39 years, passed away late last month at age 81.
According to Wendrychowicz's obituary, he was involved in: Youth Sports Boosters, Eucharistic Minister at Immaculate Conception Church in Mahwah, Mahwah Board of Education, Mahwah Public Library (as a trustee), Bergen County Library Association, New Jersey Public Library Association, Mahwah Community News, and the NJ School Board of Education Board Of Directors.
He also coached in Mahwah and Suffern.

"Peter was a well known and well loved Mahwah resident for over 50 years," said one mourner. "His family, the town of Mahwah, his students and kids he coached meant the world to him. He was the first librarian for Joyce Kilmer school in Mahwah when it first opened back in the 1960s. He was on the Mahwah Board of Education for 29 years ... Hundreds lined the sidewalk for his wake last week."
According to the obituary, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mahwah Emergency Medical Services P.O. Box 551, Mahwah NJ 07430, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
