Man Attacks Woman With Machete In Bergen County Apartment Building: Prosecutor
A man was arrested after attacking a woman with a machete near a stairwell in Bergen County, prosecutors said.
GLEN ROCK, NJ — A man was arrested on Tuesday after attacking a woman with a machete in an apartment building in Bergen County, prosecutors said.
Josue G. Corea of Fairview was charged Tuesday with attempted murder, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, and possession of a weapon, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office.
Prosecutors said that just after 10 a.m. Tuesday, the Fairview Police Department responded to an assault at an apartment building on Day Avenue.

They found a 49-year-old woman with a large laceration to her head.
She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center where she remains hospitalized in stable condition, prosecutors said Tuesday night.

Corea fled but was spotted on River Road in Edgewater and apprehended by the Cliffside Park Police Department, prosecutors said.
Prosecutors said that an investigation determined that Corea, who lived in the apartment building, struck the woman near the common stairwell with a large machete. He tried to strike her several more times, then left.
Corea was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await his first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack
