Man Charged In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash In Glen Rock: Prosecutor

A man was identified as the driver and charged in a hit-and-run crash that killed an 83-year-old woman Monday, the prosecutor said.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — A man was arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian, according to authorities.

David Romero, 24, of Paterson, stands accused of hitting a woman Monday as she crossed Lincoln Avenue in Glen Rock, and then driving away in a dark-colored Honda SUV, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

The crash, which occurred at about 6:40 a.m., sent 83-year-old Angelina Sanzari of Hawthorne to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, Musella said.

Romero was identified as the driver after he was pulled over Wednesday in his SUV by a Glen Rock officer, the prosecutor's office said.

The 24-year-old was charged with leaving the scene of a crash resulting in death, endangering an injured victim and hindering apprehension. He was also served with multiple summonses for traffic violations related to the crash, the prosecutor said.

The Paterson man was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending an initial court appearance, the prosecutor added.
