Man Shoplifts $4K In Products From CVS In Bergen County, Police Say

A man was able to slip out of a CVS in Bergen County after filling bags with $4K in beauty products, police say.

GLEN ROCK, NJ — Employees of a local drug store realized last Wednesday that someone had methodically shoplifted $4,000 worth of products the night before, police said.

Police headed to CVS in the Rock Road Central Business District of Glen Rock around noon last Wednesday, police said.

The manager told the officers that a man had entered the store just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday and taken more than $4,000 worth of skin, beauty, and eye care products, police said.

The suspect is described as "a black male who was bald, with a full beard, wearing a dark t-shirt, grey sweatpants and black glasses. He appeared to be in his 30s, just under 6 feet tall."

The video images have been forwarded to the Detective Bureau for investigation, police said.

Even though they're small, beauty and personal hygiene products have been targeted by retail theft rings over the years, and can be resold via eBay or other online outlets.

The New York Attorney General's Office in 2022 arrested 41 people who they say were involved in a Manhattan-based retail theft ring that resold the products on the ringleader's website.
