Man Tried To Meet 12-Year-Old For Sex, Bergen County Prosecutor Says
A Staten Island man was arrested when he tried to meet a 12-year-old after having sexual chats online, Bergen County Prosecutors said.
BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Staten Island man has been charged with attempted sexual assault after sending explicit messages to a 12-year-old, then showing up at the victim's home, prosecutors said.
Christopher J. Giglio, 34, of Staten Island, has also been charged with luring, child endangerment, production of child sexual abuse material, and possession of child sexual abuse material, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday.
Prosecutors said that last Wednesday, their Cyber Crimes Unit was notified by a local police department that a 12-year-old child had met an adult male through a messaging app, and the pair had been "engaged in sexual conversations."

The man — identified as Giglio — also asked the child to take photos of naked body parts, and send them to him, prosecutors said.
Then, Giglio "appeared outside of the juvenile’s home" last Wednesday night, prosecutors said. The parent saw his car idling and contacted police, but Giglio had left, prosecutors said.

An undercover investigator with the Prosecutor's Office posed as the child "to continue the chats with Giglio in the days ahead," prosecutors said. "During that time, sexualized conversation continued and Giglio made arrangements to meet the child."
When Giglio arrived to meet the child this past Monday, he was arrested, prosecutors said.
Giglio was taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
