Man Who Stabbed Bergen County Woman 29 Times, Killing Her, Is Sentenced: Prosecutor

Patrick Camilli has been sentenced for the 2021 murder of Mary Huber, the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said.

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man who was convicted of the 2021 murder of a Washington Township woman will serve life in prison, prosecutors said Tuesday.

Various reports said that Patrick J. Camilli, 57, had been dating Mary E. Huber, 51, when he stabbed her to death in a Washington Township Home.

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said that on Oct. 24, 2021, police responded to a 911 call shortly after midnight. Inside a Washington Township home,Patrick J. Camilli was found on the floor, lying on top of Mary E. Huber, 51, with a knife nearby.

Huber was taken to Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with at least 29 stab wounds and pronounced dead.

Camilli, now 57, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for treatment of self-inflicted stab wounds.

Camilli was charged with her murder.

The Bergen County Medical Examiner revealed Mary E. Huber suffered at least 29 sharp force injuries and 20 blunt force injuries during the attack, prosecutors said.

This past Oct. 7, after a four-week trial before James X. Sattely, he was convicted of murder and weapons charges.

Last Friday he was sentenced to life in a New Jersey State Prison.

The state was represented by Assistant Prosecutors Yomara Castro and Craig A. Becker of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. They were assisted by Sgt. Anthony Primiano and Detective Jeff Hansen of the BCPO Major Crimes Unit, as well as BCPO Victim Advocate Susan Tanis.
