Monday: Remembering the Post Office Massacre; Board of Ed to Vote on Field Policy

See the five things you should know today.

1) The Ridgewood Board of Education will be meeting on Monday night at 7:30 p.m. where it will be voting on the Fields Use Policy. The board will also be discussing the ongoing budget crafting process.

2) The West Side will have sanitation pickup on Monday along with recycling collection throughout Area 5.

3) The weather will be mostly cloudy with some sun peering through. Expect temperatures around 45 with northerly wind from 16-20 mph.

4) The New York Daily News, on Sunday, recounted the series of tragic events in one of the village's darkest, most infamous days – October 10, 1991. For anyone who isn't familiar with the chilling story, ex-postal worker Joseph Harris murdered former co-workers at the post office on East Ridgewood Avenue with a 'ninja-like' arsenal of weapons. He eventually surrendered to a team of hostage negotiators and SWAT teams. Joseph Harris died of a stroke while awaiting his execution on death row in September of 1996.

5)  WBCS 880 did a story on Valley Hospital's Peak-a-Boo communication system, which allows mothers to virtually visit their pre-maturely born babies.
