More Rainfall Needed to Lift Water Restrictions
Village manager says no update on Stage IV condition.
As of Monday morning, Ridgewood Water continues to restrict customers from automatic and manual sprinklers.
Village Manager Dr. Ken Gabbert said today that, despite weekend showers, the utility's water shortage necessitates water restrictions. Ridgewood Water imposed restrictions for customers in Ridgewood, Wyckoff, Glen Rock and Midland Park July 6 due to high temperatures, unexpected consumption and minimal precipitation.
"No change [is] expected until we get significant rainfall, which is still not in the 10-day forecast," Gabbert said in an e-mail.

Last week's action limited all outdoor watering. Director Frank Moritz said compliance was lacking and said ticket enforcement would commence through village staff and police. On Friday, restrictions were eased to allow handheld watering for gardens and shrubbery.
Gabbert said hoses were permissible for grass watering, as well.
