The four students were selected among 16,000 semifinalists, representing less than 1% of all high school seniors in the U.S.

RIDGEWOOD, NJ — Four students at Ridgewood High School were named 2023 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists.
Of the 1.5 million entrants, the students — Chloe Cho, Ethan Holden, Kate Minn and Lucas Wang — were selected among 16,000 semifinalists, representing less than one percent of all high school seniors who took the rigorous PSAT / National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test, the school district said in a Facebook post.
Each of the students will have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,250 scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.
