The annual NJ State Fair at the Meadowlands, with its popular pig races and fireworks, is canceled this year and next year. Find out why.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — In a surprise announcement, the organizers of the annual State Fair Meadowlands, which includes popular attractions like pig races and fireworks each year, has been canceled for this year and next.

The event usually runs in East Rutherford from late June through the first week in July, with games, fair food, pig races, live music, and often two nights of Independence Day fireworks.

This year, fans of the fair began asking questions on the fair's social media pages, wondering about the schedule. "Hurry up and post new dates!" wrote one commenter on Instagram two weeks ago.

"We will be reimagining our fair to make it bigger, better, and more family-friendly than ever. We look forward to welcomign guests back in the summer of 2027."
