Off to the Races: Fred d'Elia Run to Lace 'Em Up Monday

The following was sent by the North Jersey Masters, organizers of the Fred d'Elia Run.

The 38th running of the Fred d’Elia Ridgewood Run is on Memorial Day, May 27, 2013 at Veteran’s Field, Ridgewood. Events include the 10K event (6.2 miles), the 5K (3.1 miles), elite mile, masters mile, and the Youth Fun Run/Health Walk.  These events are geared to all levels of fitness from the top competitors in the country to first-timers. Organized by the North Jersey Masters Track and Field Club, it is the premier Memorial Day road race throughout the Middle Atlantic area with over 3,500 nation-wide participants competing for more than $5,000 in prize money. The race features electronic scoring, time clocks at every mile, online registration, water stations along the route and a fun-filled field of vendors and refreshments.

Park Avenue BMW of Maywood is returning as the Platinum sponsor of the race. The Ridgewood YMCA sponsors the Fun Run/Health Walk. The Ridgewood Run welcomes its major sponsors at the Gold Medal level: The Valley Hospital, the Ridgewood YMCA, and the Kessler Foundation. Many other sponsors, contributors and volunteers proudly support the Ridgewood Run.

Proceeds from the Ridgewood Run are donated to local charities and organizations such as College Club, Ridgewood Education Foundation and Ridgewood High School Athletics.

Registration will be accepted online at raceforum.com/ridgewood or download an application at www.ridgewoodrun.com. In-person registration will be accepted at the Ridgewood YMCA (112 Oak Street) and The Ridgewood Cycle Shop (35 North Broad Street).

Last chance to pre-register will be from 2 to 4pm at the Ridgewood YMCA, May 26. There is no race day registration for the 5K, 10K, elite mile or masters mile.

On race day, packet pickup and registration for the Fun Run will open at 7:00 a.m. at Veteran’s Field, corner of Linwood Avenue and North Maple Avenue.

Start times: 10K, 8:20 a.m. 5K, 10:15 a.m. Women’s mile, 11:15 a.m. Men’s Mile, 11:40 a.m., and the Fun Run at noon. The Ridgewood Run is also host to The Kessler Foundation Wheelchair 10K, which starts at 8:15.
