PHOTOS: Work Starts to Clear Debris from HHK Brook, Saddle River
Contractors are working hard to clear sandbars and other debris left undisturbed for about a decade.

During the past 2-3 weeks, several pieces of heavy construction equipment owned by the Rock Solid Construction Company of Newark have been stationed along the PSE&G right of way in the vicinity of Spring Avenue.
The equipment is being used by personnel from Rock Solid, who are now working feverishly to rehabilitate selected segments of the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook in an attempt to reduce future flooding in the Village.
The photos accompanying this article were taken on Thursday, October 5th from the Dunham Trail, which parallels the Ho-Ho-KusBrook between Spring Avenue and Grove Street.
Rock Solid was awarded a Village of Ridgewood contract to remove sandbars, gravel bars and other debris, such as tree stumps and large branches that have exacerbated flooding over the years. Village Manager Kenneth Gabbert recently estimated that work on rehabilitating the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook and Saddle River may last well into 2013.
