Police In Bergen County Arrest Man For 'Porch Pirate' Theft

Police in one Bergen County town say a man they arrested may have committed "porch pirate" type thefts in nearby towns.

PARAMUS, NJ — The Paramus police arrested a Clifton man last week for allegedly committing a "porch pirate style crime" and said he may be linked to similar crimes nearby.

Khaled M. Mansour, 38, was charged for a package theft that took place in Paramus last Thursday, police say.

They said that before 12:30 p.m. on that day, a Paramus resident saw a man steal a package from their porch. The theft was captured on their CCTV system.

Working with the Rockland County, NY Intelligence Center, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence and Counterterrorism Unit, and the Paramus Police Criminal Investigation Bureau, the suspect was identified as Mansour, police say.

Mansour was charged with theft under New Jersey’s 2022 "Porch Pirate Theft" statute and released to await his court hearing, police said.

Chief Robert Guidetti said, "This case highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in addressing multi-jurisdictional crimes. The Paramus Police Department Special Investigations Squad continues to work with neighboring agencies on related theft investigations."

He added, "As package thefts often increase during the holiday season, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant. Consider arranging for deliveries to be sent to secure locations or asking trusted neighbors to collect packages promptly."

He also noted, "The Paramus Police Department is collaborating with the Clifton Police Department on similar theft investigations. If anyone has experienced a theft matching the description of the suspect or vehicle, please contact your local police department and provide them with this arrest information."
